Meet the team!

Hi! My name is Rebecca Olachea!

I've been a life-long animal lover and I've had dogs and cats my entire life. As of August 2026, my partner Christina and I have 7 pets of our own (4 cats and 3 dogs - an old chihuahua/dachshund mix, a boxer/pit mix, and a lab/pit mix). I previously worked in the manufacturing industry as a QA Inspector and Technician, but after 15 years I got frustrated enough to leave and start a business doing something I love - taking care of pets.

I've hired dog walkers and pet sitters when I've been at work or away from home and I know first-hand how much of a relief it is to know that I had someone there to look after my fur babies. My dogs are less stressed, too, since they are getting more exercise and not in a kennel for 8 to 10 hours a day. Getting pictures and updates always brought me joy and relief knowing that they were all right, and who doesn't like getting pictures of their pets in the middle of a busy workday?

I am great with details - no matter how big or small - and I will ensure your pets are well taken care of. I also took the Dove Lewis Pet First Aid class to make sure I could help keep your pets safe in case of any emergency, and Mental Health First Aid because I care about helping people in need as well.

Personally, I play drums in several bands, I've been active in the LGBTQIA2S+ community performing as a drag king (aka Johnny O) for almost 20 years, and supporting non-profits with my time. I'm originally from San Diego but have lived in Portland since 2004. I love it here, and I especially love my co-workers - your dogs and cats. 🐾🐾🐾

Meet my teammate Max Smoot!!

My love of animals started with my first family dog - a golden retriever named Sandy. After picking her up, I spent the whole car ride home scared she'd throw up on me, but the second we walked through the door, we became soulmates. We napped together, played together, and she was my best friend.

I started walking dogs professionally in 2019 in Northern California while staying with my aunt. A nearby retirement community gave me my first steady base of clients, and that's where I became fluent in the language of dog and cat - each moment an opportunity to learn all I could about animal behavior.

After moving to Portland in 2023, I met Rebecca through a friend, and I am SO grateful I did. She's taken me under her wing and shown me the standard of care that's helped her become one of the best in the PDX business (and why she's hired me to help her - she's so booked up!).

My favorite part of the job is walking into the house and seeing the pups' wagging tails and kitties' purrs. That means I've done my job as a pet care professional - to give them the same love and attention they get from their parents.

My specialty is my size. I'm 6'7", and while I do well with all dogs, I enjoy walking the big ones. I also work well with high-energy dogs, taking long strides to get them a good workout, but bringing a calming presence to help them stay balanced.

Outside of pet care, I like to read four pages of a sci-fi book then fall asleep, struggle at disc golf, and eat my way through Portland. I'm also an LGBTQIA+ ally and a volunteer in the Lents neighborhood. Most weekends you'll find me at Fernhill dog park watching my two dog-daughters Misha and Rosie run around like wild children.
